Faculty and students engage in mutually beneficial relationships with the community and other health care providers in ways that complement the nursing division’s educational mission. The Division provides an environment conducive to personal and professional growth and lifelong learning for students and faculty. Prior learning experiences are considered in the criteria for admission of a student population diverse in age, gender, ethnicity, academic levels, life experiences and health care experiences. The undergraduate curriculum provides experiences needed for students to develop effective communication and critical thinking skills while executing therapeutic intervention, health promotion and disease prevention, and evidence-base practice strategies. These experiences include theory, clinical practicums and public service essential for delivery of professional nursing care in a variety of settings and to diverse populations. Consistent with the WSSU mission and the mission of the School of Health Sciences, the division provides professional nursing education that prepares a baccalaureate degree nurse generalist. Like so many other businesses, the university is experiencing staffing shortages which makes rearranging an event of this magnitude incredibly taxing for current staff levels.The Division of Nursing at Winston-Salem State University is a national premier nursing school based on excellence in education, research, and public service, as well as diversity in student population and program offerings. The risk to safety is far too great to proceed with inadequate safety personnel.Īdditionally, we must protect the well-being of university staff. The university is mandated by the NCAA to have a minimum number of emergency response resources that cannot be guaranteed at this time. Given the potential severe weather impact on our state and the governor’s issuance of a state of emergency for North Carolina, law enforcement and emergency medical resources are very limited for this week. It is important for our supporters to know this decision was not made lightly. No action is needed if you choose to donate your ticket purchase. Ticket and tailgating refunds must be requested by October 31. Payments for tailgating spaces will also be refunded. Alternatively, patrons may donate their ticket price to the university’s athletic department. Although tickets are traditionally non-refundable, the university will offer a full refund for this game. At this time, the game has not been rescheduled. Lincoln football game scheduled for this coming Saturday, October 1, has been canceled. ![]()
